Record the Phone Calls

Once you realize the dealership hasn't fixed your problem, and isn't producing results, it's time to plan ahead. Begin recording the phone conversations between yourself and the dealer. This can be done using a simple wire (see photo) which can be found in your local Bell telephone store, and a tape recorder. Keep it attached to your phone in case you need to record quickly. This may seem a bit extreme, but it will provide you with indisputable evidence. You might not play the tapes for the arbitrator, but having a record of what was said will help your case.

If you cannot tape the calls, ensure you keep a detailed log of the date, time, who was spoken to, and what was discussed.

Note: In Canada, the law says you can record a phone conversation as long as one party of the recording is aware the conversation is being recorded. In other words, one cannot tape 2 other individuals conversation. If you are taping someone you are talking to you are fine since you are aware of the recording.
